As part of his visit to the area along the Danube, threatened by the arrival of the water wave, the director of the Fund, Luka Balen, together with minister Marija Vučković and state secretaries Anja Bagarić and Željko Vuković, handed over a contract worth 383.700 euros to the head of Bošnjaci Municipality, Andrija Juzbašić. This covers 100% of the costs for financing the removal and disposal of waste after the hailstorm that hit the area of the municipality of Bošnjaci in July. The hail caused significant damage to buildings, especially roofs. After the end of the hailstorm, citizens, the army, and professional services immediately began clearing up and repairing the buildings, after which large amounts of waste material remained.
"Unfortunately, we have already witnessed similar situations after natural disasters, and the Fund was equally at disposal to local units. After the floods in Gunja, the earthquake in Sisak-Moslavina area, the Fund provided both professional and financial support to remedy the consequences in an environmentally friendly manner", said the director of the Fund, Luka Balen. He also expressed his hope there would be no need for such contracts anymore, but if there were - cities and municipalities could count on the help of the Fund. Regarding the current situation in the field, minister Vučković thanked all stakeholders in the system and services on the ground and stated: "We believe that we have prepared well and that we will successfully respond to this challenge, without underestimating the seriousness of the situation at any time. We will continue to take all necessary measures and adequately protect the inhabitants and the economy in Slavonia and Baranja."
