67 grant funding contracts worth €67.8 million were awarded yesterday in Slavonski Šamac, of which 9 are contracts with the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition worth almost 2.2. million euros. These were presented to beneficiaries by the director of the Fund, Luka Balen, and the minister of environment, Marija Vučković, in attendance of the President of the Government Andrej Plenković.
"The projects to which we are awarding contracts today are simply a continuance of the Fund's investments in Slavonia. Four contracts refer to the allocation of national funds for projects to reduce the consumption of substances that deplete the ozone layer and to reduce food waste, for which the Fund provided 227 thousand euros. On the other hand, European funds will be used to finance projects for setting up civic amenity sites. Without such projects, it is not possible to have an efficient local waste management system, nor achieve the set goals in terms of circular economy," said the director of the Fund, Luka Balen.
Minister Marija Vučković pointed out that the projects also included the construction and equipment of new civic amenity sites , as well as the purchase of new bring banks, with the amount of support totalling 1.6 million euros. "Three civic amenity sites will be built and equipped for the residents of Municipality Cerna, Municipality Nijemci and town Orahovica, and two bring banks will be set up for the residents of municipalities Brodski Stupnik and Špišić Bukovica, with educational and informational activities," explained the minister, adding that all these projects, through their respective impacts, were the drivers of the green transition and changing our society on the path to a more resource-responsible and efficient one.
Contracts were also handed over to heads of local units in the five eastern counties by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Science and Education.
