Earth Day, which has been celebrated for 55 years on 22 April, is a global reminder of the importance of conservation of the environment and natural resources for the future generations.

This year, Earth Day is held under the slogan “Our Power, Our Planet”, championing the joint global drive to triple the production of clean electricity by 2030, and focusing on RES, recycling, protection of biodiversity, and green transition. Through its activities, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund is contributing to the implementation of the national climate goals.

Through different co-financing schemes, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund is promoting sustainability projects in the field of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, reduction of GHG emissions, sustainable waste management, and protection of the natural resources. Reducing waste and reuse or upcycling of things and products we no longer use, reducing energy consumption and switching to RES, and the use of environmentally friendly products should become the norm in our homes, offices and the community.  That is why education is important, so the Fund is conduction numerous theme campaigns aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of conservation of nature and the environment.

In a world overwhelmed with global challenges, we often forget that change does not start “somewhere out there”, but at home, in our own backyard, in our daily decisions, as one of the Fund’s campaigns purposes “Be the change – you are more important than you think”.
