The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development published a call for proposals for generating electricity from renewable sources in the processing industry and the heating industry, for which the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund will be the implementing authority. The aim of the call is to encourage companies to produce energy for their own needs, which would, among other things, reduce the dependence on the purchase of energy on the market and fuel costs.“We are jumpstarting a cycle worth one billion euro for investments in Croatian companies, development, and improving the competitiveness and green transition. This call, the first one to utilise the resources from the Modernisation Fund, is aimed at encouraging Croatian companies to produce as much as possible energy for their own consumption using renewable energy sources. By promoting the use of RES, Croatia is taking one more step towards the neutral economy and the EU goals we’ve committed achieve,” said minister Davor Filipović.
The value of the call is EUR 60 million (more than HRK 450 million), and the amount of the grant per project proposal ranges from EUR 100.000 to EUR 2 million. Potential beneficiaries can apply more than one project with the maximum amount of EUR 4 million per the respective applicant.
The goal of the call is the reduction of GHG emissions (60 000 t CO2/god), increasing the generation of energy from RES (80MW), achieving energy savings (140.000 MWh annually), and increasing energy storage capacities (20MWh).
Investments can be used for the construction of integrated and/or non-integrated PV power plants connected to the grid, construction of biomass and biogas power plants, installing electricity storage systems (batteries), engineering design and construction supervision, and OHS coordination.
This call will be followed by the call for grants from the Modernisation Fund for investments in energy efficiency measures and highly-efficient cogeneration in the processing industry worth in total EUR 80 million.
