Great interest in electric vehicles

10.06.2021.

“Citizens and companies showed great interest in energy efficient vehicles, and until afternoon they have secured the total of 90 million kunas of incentives from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, so the Public Call was temporarily closed,” said the head of the Energy Efficiency Sector at the Fund, Maja Rajčić. Referring to the statistics, Mrs Rajčić said that around 60% of the applications were submitted on behalf of natural persons. The submission of applications started today at 8:00 through the points of sale, and in less than 8 hours the total of 1464 applications for co-financing of 1950 vehicles were received.

Two-thirds of the vehicles applied for are in the M1 category, meaning passenger vehicles, and the requested sum per vehicle is HRK 63,000 on average. Due to the incentives, some of the electric car models were priced almost equally to the traditional cars in the same class, so it is no wonder that the most sought after were the mid-sized cars. Electric motorcycles also attracted great interest, for which up to HRK 20,000 of incentives could be obtained.

After the citizens and companies secured the applied for incentives, within a period of eight days the applicants are obliged to pay to the account of the dealer/point of sale the mandatory minimum down payment, after which the point of sale will upload the prepayment invoice into the Fund’s application, together with the buyer’s receipt (proof of payment). After this, the buyers will receive on their e-mails the confirmation of successful completion of the application process to the Fund’s Public Call, and those with the complete and correct documentation will receive by post the decision on co-financing and contract for co-financing. The funds will be paid in a one-off instalment within 30 days after the receipt of the complete documentation for payment.

In the case that within the 8-day period a certain number of allocations are not confirmed by the down payment, the Fund will reopen the Public Call and points of sale will continue with the applications until the allocated budget is depleted. All information about the opening/closing of the Public Call will be posted as appropriate on the websites www.fzoeu.hr and vozimoeko.fzoeu.hr.

“Our goal is to have continuously available funding for the purchase of energy efficient vehicles. We want to reach the stage where, like some other EU Member States, we have an open call, so that anyone who decides to buy this type of vehicle can apply directly at any given moment,” concluded Maja Rajčić.
