Under the public call of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund for the energy renovation of family houses, co-financing for 321 projects has been approved for citizens from Karlovac County. 25 beneficiaries were presented with their co-financing agreements yesterday.
The director of the Energy Efficiency Fund, Luka Balen, underlined the record amount of funds that the Fund is investing in energy renovation: "The 120 million euros that the Government of the Republic of Croatia has provided with this call for the renovation of family houses is the largest allocation ever. However, this is only a part that, together with public calls for the renovation of public and apartment buildings, comprises the energy renovation package, which contributes to cheaper energy sources and lower living costs."
The overall value of approved projects in Karlovac County is close to 7.7 million euros, for which the Fund provided EUR 3.5 million in grants to citizens. Co-financing covers the installation of thermal insulation, the replacement of windows, and of the heating system.
Anja Bagarić, state secretary at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, said that the Karlovac region is rapidly developing and going forward thanks to the hardworking inhabitants of the county, as well as to the measures and policies of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the successful utilisation of European funds. "In Karlovac County, 491 million euros of European funds have been contracted so far for various projects throughout the region."
"Karlovac County recognised the importance of energy renovation from the outset. Even 16 years ago, when the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund announced the first call, the county, together with its Regional Development Agency, immediately started with the implementation. During this whole time, various projects have been continuously supported and co-financed,“ said county prefect Martina Furdek Hajdin. She added that she appreciated not only the fact that a significant number of projects would contribute to a change in the county’s overall outlook but also provide better and cheaper housing to citizens.
After having received their contracts, the new beneficiaries will soon start renovating their homes, with the completion deadline being the end of 2026.
