Led by Deputy Prime Minister and minister of Croatian Veterans Tomo Medved, director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Luka Balen, and minister Marija Vučković today visited the landfill "Petrovačka dola" in Vukovar.

So far, about 125 thousand cubic meters of various waste, up to 17 meters deep, have been excavated from the location, inspected and transported, which is still being probed after the disposal of waste was suspended when the first human remains were found.

Minister Vučković thanked minister Medved and others who were working on this worthwhile mission to find the missing and murdered victims of the Serbian aggression, and who deserve a proper resting place, underlining that the Ministry and the Fund would continue to provide all the necessary assistance and support in order to continue with the search for the location as quickly as possible.

Minister Medved thanked the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition and the Fund, as well as the contractors for the rapid removal of the asbestos mound and announced further activities at this most demanding and longest-researched location of the mass grave from the Homeland War. The search for the victims began in April 2022 based on information from the Security and Intelligence Agency, and after two years, the exhumed remains of the victims were found, of which 35 people have been identified so far.
