The Fund has announced a new educational and environmental competition aimed at elementary and secondary school students under the slogan: "Make a difference drastic to cut down on plastic".
The goal is to inform elementary and secondary school students about the importance of cutting down on single-use plastics and encourage them to develop environmental awareness through creative tasks and propose creative solutions for a more sustainable future of our Enchanting Croatia and the entire planet. The focus of this year's eco-competition is to reduce the use of single-use plastics, which becomes waste after just a few minutes and remains undecomposed in the environment for hundreds of years. The slogan of the competition "Make a difference drastic to cut down on plastic" wants to encourage children and young people to adopt real and tangible changes that each of them can make first in their home, and then in the wider community, that will help the environment.
The winners will be chosen by an expert jury consisting of representatives of the Fund and the agency conducting the competition, Marina Matijević, initiator of the initiative “Ja Bolji Građanin” (I, Better Citizen), and Mirna Deskar, teacher, creative person, and entrepreneur. As in the past, this year, elementary and secondary school students can expect interesting tasks in the competition sparking their imagination for creative solutions to reduce the use of single-use plastics.
Creativity has
always been a space for problem solving and innovative thinking, and in this competition,
students will have the opportunity to show how their ideas can contribute to reducing
plastic waste. Creative tasks are divided into three categories – the lower grades
are expected to make ecological superheroes, junior grades will present 3D comic
books, while high school students will create videos in the style of environmental
influencers, all on the topic of single-use plastics. The most creative groups of
students, as well as mentors, will receive valuable prizes.
