10 Years in EU – 2200 projects contracted through Intermediate Body

To mark the 10th anniversary of accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, the event “EU Projects – Open Days”, which is at national level coordinated by the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds, was held in the conference hall at the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.

The event was organized by the Fund’s Intermediate Body, which in a summary of the “10 Years in the EU” presented the projects they implemented in cooperation with numerous beneficiaries that were co-financed from available EU funds.

Deputy Director of the Fund, Mirko Budiša, greeted the attendees and said that the European funds had enabled Croatian citizens to improve their quality of life also promoting a more uniform regional development of the Republic of Croatia, in which the Fund – as Intermediate Body – had played an important role. He also pointed out that the beneficiaries were commended the cooperation and expertise of the employees from the Fund's Intermediate Body.

“During the implementation of the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014 -2020, Intermediate Body of the Fund was in charge of the implementation of projects that were co-financed under thematic units – increasing energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, environmental protection and climate change, and risk management. We contracted 2220 projects worth over 1.6 billion euros, and 85% of the funds were secured from EU funds. The results of these projects are visible throughout Croatia and are of great importance for the sustainable development of local communities,” said Sanja Jelačić, head of Intermediate Body at the Fund.

The programmes and activities implemented under the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion were presented by Predrag Čuljak, head of the Department for technical verification of EE and RES projects, Nataša Dankić Sliepčević, head of the Department for technical verification of environmental and nature protection projects, Brigita Crnković, head of the Department for procurement control, and Slavica Lulić, head of the Department for financial and economic verification.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets. As part of the event, an exhibition of photographs was organized, showing some of the most successful projects co-financed from the European Structural and Investment Funds.
