11,926 citizens’ applications for energy renovation incentives

14.03.2024.

Today at 12:00, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund temporarily closed the Public Call for energy renovation of family houses, after having received 11,926 applications from citizens. Bearing in mind this year’s record EUR 120 million budget, after all applications have been processed, it is expected that the earmarked funds will be sufficient for all homeowners who have all the necessary and eligible documentation, which was the intention of this public call.

"We are very pleased with the course of the application process and with the fact that so many citizens want to renovate their homes in order to improve energy performance. This shows that they are aware of all the benefits that this programme offers, and an interest of this magnitude is an indicator for us to continue with incentives for citizens on the path to not only energy efficiency, but energy independence," said the Fund’s director Luka Balen.

There was enough time to prepare the documentation, especially considering that the Terms and Conditions of the Public Call and Technical requirements were published in December last year. After the call was launched, two additional forms were published that had to be filled out with the basic information about the applicant and planned measures, which did not require any special technical knowledge, while the application had an extremely simple interface.

Next week, the Fund will publish a list of all received applications, while the applicants can already find the information about the receipt of applications in their e-Građani User inbox.

Citizens plan to invest the incentives they applied for in better thermal insulation, efficient joinery, and RES, including microsolar. For the first time, under this call applicants for PV power plants could also apply for co-financing for EV charging stations as an additional measure to encourage the decarbonisation of transport. The next public call the Fund has in the pipeline is for the purchase of energy-efficient vehicles worth EUR 15 million, which the Fund will announce by the end of the month.

All these programmes represent just one part of activities that the Croatian Government is taking to promote Croatia’s green transition, in which citizens also have a major role.
