Energy renovation of family houses sparks great interest among citizens

13.03.2024.

Balen: With a record amount of 120 million euros provided by the Government of the Republic of Croatia, we are raising the standard of our citizens and moving towards greater production of energy from renewable sources for own consumption.

By 12:00 today, 7418 citizens' applications were received to the Public Call for the energy renovation of houses of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund. With the amount of 120 million euros, this is the most abundant call of this kind so far. For energy efficiency measures and/or installation of systems for the use of renewable energy sources, citizens could receive the grant amounting to 62,120 euros.

Director of the Fund Luka Balen emphasizes that, compared to the previous public call, almost three times more funds have been secured. "The goal is that all those who have ready projects and meet the requirements receive co-financing for the energy renovation of their homes," said the director of the Fund.

As of 9:00 today, all required forms can be downloaded from the Fund's website, then they have to be filled out and, along with other necessary documentation, uploaded to the application. Most of the required documentation was listed on the Fund's website since the end of December last year, so interested citizens had almost three months to prepare the documents.

Citizens shall submit their applications for co-financing electronically using the eFZOEU hosted on the EU Funds platform of the Central State Office for the Development of the Digital Society. During the morning, the system worked without any major technical problems and the applicants could successfully submit their applications. We remind that co-financing can be obtained for thermal insulation, energy-efficient joinery and/or some of the systems for the use of renewable energy sources, such as heat pumps, biomass boilers, solar panels, or PV power plants. The applications received so far are worth on average about 12,000 euros per application.

"The interest in this programme has always been great, which is why we have strived to provide information about the call through various channels. In addition to the announcement in the media, we also organised workshops and established a call centre for users’ enquiries by telephone and e-mail," explained Balen, and added that the budget for the call has not yet been spent. "Energy renovation has many benefits, not only in reducing energy costs, but also in improving the quality of life because houses that were renovated to meet certain energy performance standard save more and are - worth more," says the director of the Fund.
