The Fund has published a Public Call for direct co-financing of the cultivation of seedlings in nursery production for forest and species intended for the greening of urban areas worth 3 million euros.The aim is to foster the production of planting material necessary for the greening of urban and peri-urban areas of Croatia. 150 thousand euros will be allocated to local self-government units, science institutes, and higher education institutions, as well as companies in the public and private sectors and other legal and natural persons - tradesmen outside the public sector. This year, the Fund also implemented the "Green Side of the Street" programme, co-financing with 17 million euros investments in the green infrastructure to strengthen climate resilience of our urban environments to 76 regional and local self-government units.
As one of the main initiatives within the European Green Deal, the European Commission has set the goal of planting at least 3 billion additional trees in the EU by 2030, of which Croatia has undertaken the obligation to plant one million trees per year.
