Vrata Papuka (Papuk Gateway) Project

The project “Vrata Papuka” – Slatinski Drenovac entry point was presented at eco-point Jankovac in Papuk Nature Park. the Fund provided For the overall development of the project documentation, EUR 96,500.
“Vrata Papuka is one in a series of projects to revitalise this park, and an example of sustainable management of the natural resources. On the one hand, we’re extending the offer and renovating infrastructure, and on the other, raising the awareness of visitors about the importance of nature and its protection,” said Vlatka Gulan Zetić, the head of the Nature Protection Department at the Fund, adding that the cooperation between the Public Institution Papuk Nature Park and Fund had been going on for years.
By renovating and outfitting of facilities under the Vrata Papuka project, the new entry point to the nature park will be opened, which will relieve the pressure that is currently on the busiest visitor point of the park – eco-point Jankovac. Revitalisation of the location implies the renovation of the building that is currently not in function, covering gross area of 631.59 m2, and landscaping of its surroundings. The plan also includes establishing a mushroom foraging park and the new information and education trail. The goal of the project is to contribute to the sustainable management of the visitor infrastructure so as to improve tourism potential of Continental Croatia by establishing targeted monitoring of the number of visitors and new education facilities and areas.
