10.09.2025.

On the second day of the conference "Let's Support Sustainability", organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, a panel discussion was held on the topic of packaging of the future. The panellists included Marijana Sabljić, head of the Department for Integrated Quality, Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Management Systems at Saponia Inc., Renata Tomerlin, director of Packaging Development at Podravka Inc., Davor Bruketa, Creative Director at the Bruketa&Žinić&Grey Studio, Davor Ujlaki, director at Muraplast Plc., and deputy director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Mirko Budiša.

On that occasion, Budiša pointed out packaging as one of the key parts of waste management, given the potential it has for recycling and reuse. He also reminded of the changes in the functioning of the charge collection system through the established Register of Producers with Extended Responsibility (RPPO). "The collection system is fully functional, and thanks to better cooperation with the customs service, more efficient identification of persons subject to payment is expected," said Budiša. He believes that this ensures greater transparency, better   control and more efficient implementation of the system, and emphasises that the Fund continuously invests in the development of the packaging waste management system and encourages innovations and projects that contribute to reducing the negative impact of packaging on the environment.

"Sustainable packaging is not the responsibility of just one sector - it starts at the conceptual phase. From marketing, through product design to packaging, manufacturers, everyone in the chain has a key role to play in choosing materials that are recyclable, functional and environmentally friendly. Only with a joint approach can we provide packaging solutions that are in line with the principles of sustainability and the needs of the modern market," said Budiša.
