Additional funding for Natura Centre in Sisak-Moslavina County

03.11.2021.

The director of the Fund, Siniša Kukić, and the mayor of Sisak-Moslavina County, Ivan Celjak, signed today the agreement providing additional funding for refurbishing the former administrative building of the hospital in Petrinja that will be converted into the Natura educational and presentation centre.

An investment worth HRK 17.7 million is in the greatest part co-financed from EU funds, however after the devastating earthquake that struck Sisak-Moslavina County additional funding has to be secured for the implementation of the project. Bearing in mind the significance of the overall projects and that the new visitor infrastructure will contribute to designing different activities that will increase the appeal of the protected areas and the ecological Natura network in Sisak-Moslavina County, the Fund earmarked HRK 240 thousand for this purpose.

“This is one more in a series of projects that the Fund is implementing in this County. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, we are still focused on the disposal of waste resulting after the earthquake, in cooperation with the local utility companies. However, we are not disregarding the projects  for conservation of many natural values in this area,” said director Kukić. He added that Sisak-Moslavina County was the pioneer of the praiseworthy project of preserving the storks’ nests, which was later extended to other counties. Apart from this, the Fund invested 5 million kunas in the projects that are being implemented in Lonjsko Polje Nature Park.
