Applications for co-financing the replacement of old home furnaces/boilers

02.09.2025.

Starting at 9:00 today, the citizens of Slavonski Brod, Sisak and Kutina can start submitting their applications to a public call for co-financing the replacement of old home furnaces or boilers. This is a pilot project worth ten million euros that the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund is implementing in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition. Eligible applicants for co-financing include owners of family houses and apartments in blocks of flats in areas with a different air quality category.

These are locations where an increased concentration of pollutants has been recorded, as a consequence of years long industrial tradition in petrochemistry, metal industry and energy. For the purpose of reducing particulate matter emissions, which also come from domestic furnaces, the programme is aimed at co-financing the replacement of worn-out free-standing solid fuel furnaces or conventional central heating systems with new, more energy-efficient solutions. In addition to lower heating costs, these investments directly contribute to cleaner air in the wider area.

For the purchase and installation of environmentally friendly heating systems, such as a pyrolytic wood boiler or a heat pump, as well as for the installation of a photovoltaic power plant, citizens can receive up to 16,150 euros per household. It is vital that they collect all the necessary documentation and send the application electronically, through the eFZOEU system. The documentation includes proof of ownership and legality of the house or apartment, as well as the certificate of permanent residence at that address for at least 30 days. In addition, professional assistance in the preparation of the application is also co-financed, and the application can be submitted in person or through a third party with a notarised power of attorney. This programme, worth in total 220 million euros, is part of a broader strategy of the Government, which seeks to improve air quality in Croatia and encourage the transition to more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly heating systems.
