The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund held a meeting today presenting the programme of co-financing energy-efficient vehicles aimed at legal entities. The most important elements of the programme were presented to potential beneficiaries at the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Croatian Employers' Association, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce - Trade Sector and the Industry Sector, representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts, and the Electric Circle Association.
"Traffic affects air quality, especially in urban areas, as well as CO2 emissions, which is why it is necessary to encourage measures to reduce these emissions. One of the measures implemented by the Fund is the co-financing of the purchase of energy-efficient vehicles, i.e. zero-emission vehicles. This year, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, and within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, European funds were provided for this programme. This means that 21.2 million euros will be available to trades and legal entities, and the publication of the complete conditions of co-financing is expected in the next few days," announced the director of the Fund, Luka Balen.
It was pointed out that the amount of individual incentives would be similar to previous years, and the novelty is that applications will not go through vehicle distributors, but solely electronically, through the NIAS system eFZOEU.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, who informed the attendees that 90 million euros have been provided through the Modernisation Fund for measures to reduce harmful emissions in transport. A special programme worth 45 million euros is being prepared for taxi operators, delivery vehicle owners, and car sharing service providers, which will be implemented in cooperation with the Fund. Moreover, additional EUR 45 million are planned to be allocated for the decarbonisation of transport through financial instruments, as part of a project on which the Ministry is cooperating with the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The gathered representatives of associations and organisations expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing communication with the Fund on a topic that is increasingly of interest to their members and announced that they expect significant interest in the upcoming public call. In the context of increasing investments in the green transition, fleet electrification was increasingly being recognised as not only an environmentally responsible, but also an economically viable investment.
