Under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, almost 3 million euros were provided to General Hospital in Gospić for energy renovation, and the contract for the implementation of this project was handed over to the hospital CEO Sandra Čubelić by Deputy Prime Minister and minister Branko Bačić and director of the Fund Luka Balen. It is a project of intervention on a building of 13 thousand square meters, which will halve the current consumption of thermal energy.
"The contract for the energy renovation of General Hospital in Gospić is a project that brings multiple benefits - from energy savings and reduction of emissions to improved health care. The implementation of such investments shows the continuity of the policy of the Croatian Government and all its line institutions to make healthcare, educational, sports, and other public institutions a pleasant place to stay for all their users, while meeting high standards of energy efficiency and environmental protection," said director Balen.
Referring to the visit to the renovated buildings in Lički Osik, Deputy Prime Minister and minister of physical planning, construction and state property Branko Bačić also pointed out in his address that the Government was consistently implementing housing and energy policy having a direct impact on the quality of life. "This is one of the most important programmes that directly affects the quality of life of our citizens. Energy-renovated apartments bring not only greater comfort of living, but also concrete savings - tenants testify to significantly lower heating costs. In the buildings that we will build together with local self-government units in Lika-Senj County, it is estimated that the heating costs for apartments will amount of as little as 36 eurocents per square meter, which is a concrete result of targeted policies," emphasised Bačić.
As part of his working visit to Lika-Senj County, minister Bačić announced further investments and presented the mayor of Otočac with an agreement for the young families housing programme, which envisages the construction of a multi-apartment building with 13 apartments with a total value of 1.6 million euros. An agreement on interdepartmental cooperation was also signed with the Municipality of Vrhovine, which envisages the construction of a building with 10 apartments, worth 1.25 million euros. To encourage sustainable return to assisted areas, contracts worth 90 thousand euros each were awarded to the mayors of the municipalities of Brinje and Donji Labac.
Lika-Senj County Prefect Ernest Petry thanked the Croatian Government, the relevant ministry and the Environmental Protection Fund. "In the past four years, through various programmes and projects, we’ve made significant progress - especially in the segment of energy renovation of multi-apartment buildings. In Lički Osik, the renovation of 10 buildings has been completed, the renovation of an additional 3 is underway, and our goal is to renovate a total of 30 buildings in the Gospić area and 56 at the level of the entire county by the end of the programme. These investments do not only mean a more beautiful and functional infrastructure - they are also a concrete contribution to encouraging the people to stay in this region, better living conditions and demographic revitalisation," said the prefect.
