Public call for co-financing of PV power plants temporarily closed as of 1 September

20.08.2025.

On 1 September 2025, at 12:00 p.m., the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund will temporarily close the Public Call for the installation of photovoltaic power plants in family houses, which was launched on 6 June 2025. In just over two months, about 4 100 project applications were received, which are currently being processed.

The programme in question is a successful financing scheme whereby the Fund encourages citizens to use renewable energy sources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the energy independence of households. The great interest in this programme shows that citizens are taking the energy transition seriously and want to actively participate in the production of green energy. Thanks to financial support, the installation of solar panels is becoming more affordable to the general public, while a large number of applications corroborates the fact that investment in renewable energy sources is becoming a worthwhile decision for households in the long run.

Considering the call was open for more than two months, all interested applicants had the possibility to apply. As a reminder, this call was aimed at co-financing the installation of PV power plants for own needs on the roofs of existing family houses or on related outbuildings. Eligible applicants included only natural persons - owners or co-owners of houses, with permanent residence at that address at the time of commissioning the power plant. Power plants installed and put into operation as of 1 January 2025 were also co-financed, and citizens could get incentive of up to 50% of eligible costs, i.e. up to EUR 600 per kW of the installed power plant nominal power.

Currently, the processing and evaluation of the received applications is underway, and everyone who meets the requirements and has complete documentation can count on the Fund's incentives. Depending on the available funds and the number of successful applications, the possibility of reopening the call will also be considered.

In the past two years, about 5600 PV power plants were co-financed to households through the Fund's programmes, thus significantly reducing citizens' energy bills and increasing their energy independence. Experience so far confirms the interest in such investments to ensure further development of green energy and accelerate Croatia's energy transition, and these requirements will continue to be supported by the future co-financing programmes.
