A working meeting was held in Ekoplus of Rijeka on the project of the Marišćina County Waste Management Centre. Along the president of the Ekoplus Management Board, Kristian Gašparini, technical manager of the Centre Sanjin Đuran, and Nika Dorčić, head of Finance, the meeting was attended by deputy director of the Fund Mirko Budiša, head of the EU Funds Sector Maja Feketić, head of the department Vesna Cetin Krnjević, and project manager Maša Golubičić.CWMC Marišćina was built with the aid of EU funds under the financial programme OPCC 2007-2013, and has been operational since 2017 under the management of the county utility company Ekoplus d.o.o. Given that the built cells are being filled with planned dynamics, in 2022 Ekoplus signed a grant agreement with the Fund on the allocation of funds for the construction of the cell 1C, on which the works were successfully completed in May 2023 and for which a use permit was obtained.
In addition to reporting on the status of the Centre, the management shared with the representatives of the Fund of their ideas for improving certain processes at the MBT plant with the aim of a more efficient RDF production. As they explained, consultations were underway with experts that should result in a preliminary assessment of the required investment and, additionally, an investment in the installation of a gas generator is planned.
The meeting resulted in plans for further cooperation to ensure the efficient operation of the centre and achievement of national goals for integrated waste management.
