In the public procurement procedure for the removal and disposal or recovery of improperly disposed waste at the Samoborski Vrbovec site in Samobor, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund received six bids that are within the estimated value of the procurement of EUR 3.84 million.The expert committee will now review in detail and evaluate the received documentation of all bidders, followed by a decision on the selection of the contractor, in accordance with legal regulations.
According to estimates, there are about 8 thousand tonnes of improperly disposed waste at the site. The largest share is plastic, which represents almost three quarters of the total amount, while the rest of the waste consists of packaging, tires, paper, cardboard and smaller amounts of metals and mixed municipal waste. About 70 percent of the waste is in bales, while the remaining part is scattered on the ground and partially degraded due to long-term exposure to the elements. The method of waste disposal will be determined by the selected service provider, in accordance with the proposed plan of remediation activities and the conditions prescribed by the procurement documentation.
The remediation project in Samobor forms part of a broader plan to remove illegally dumped waste, especially at locations where waste has not been removed despite previously issued orders from the competent authorities.
In addition to Samobor, the Fund received an offer for the remediation of two locations in Poznanovec last week as part of the procurement procedure.
With the aim of implementing the remediation of six locations that, at the proposal of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, are included in the Waste Management Plan of the Republic of Croatia, the Fund will also announce a public procurement for the removal and disposal of part of the illegally dumped waste in the area of PPK Velebit in Gospić.
At the same time, documentation for the remediation of the location in Pazin is being prepared, and after meeting all the necessary formal and legal conditions, the Fund will initiate activities for the remediation of the locations in Benkovac and Lovinac in the upcoming period.
