BioSfera Multimedia Centre opens in Biograd

The official ceremony to mark the opening of the interpretation Biograd BioSfera Centre for Sustainable Active Tourism was held before numerous attendees. Its development cost HRK 21.7 million, with EU grant of HRK 12.7 million, and the Fund’s contribution of HRK 1.4 million.
 
“I believe that the Bisofera Centre will attract all nature enthusiasts, who will be able to enjoy not only the interesting multimedia exhibits, but also in discovering come of our traditions, and learn about the values and importance of protecting natural heritage,” said Alenka Košiša Čičin Šain, the acting director of the Fund, at the opening ceremony. 
 
The project implementing entity is the Public Institution Vransko Jezero Nature Park in partnership with the Town of Biograd na Moru, CEDRA Split Eco-social Innovation and Development Cluster, and the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service. Cooperation was also realised with national parks and nature parks from three counties: Zadar, Lika-Senj, Šibenik-Knin County, and the units of local self-government with local county and local tourist boards, and the local action groups Laura and Lostura.
 
“BioSfera will be a single spot where people will be able to get all the information and presentations about our six listed nature parks: NP Vransko jezero, NP Kornati, NP Krka, NP Paklenica, PP Velebit and NP Telašćica,” said Danijel Katičin, the director of the Public Institution Vransko Jezero Nature Park. The goal, said Katičin, is to contribute to the sustainable development of the local communities and their economies through sustainable utilisation and putting to use of the values and natural heritage potential in the wider area of three counties.
 
Along with the acting director of the Fund and the director of Vransko Jezero Nature Park, the attendees were addressed by state secretaires Mario Šiljeg (Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development), Šime Erlić (Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, Tonči Glavina (Ministry of Tourism), and Šime Mršić (Ministry of Agriculture), the mayor of Zadar County Božidar Longin, and the mayor of Biograd, Ivan Knez.
