Goals

The following recovery goals amounts for waste packaging are prescribed by the provision of Article 60 of the Waste Management Act:
  1.  separately collect and recover, through material or energy recovery, at least 60% of the total weight of waste packaging produced on the territory of the Republic of Croatia;
  2. recycle at least 55% and up to a maximum of 80% of the total weight of waste packaging intended for material recovery;
  3. treat by recycling the minimum mass of material in waste packaging:
a) 60% by weight of glass;
b) 60% by weight of paper and cardboard;
c) 50% by weight for metals;
d) 22.5% by weight for plastics, taking into account solely the material that has been recycled back into the plastics;
e) and 15% by weight for wood.
  1. by 31 December 2025, at least 65% by weight of the total waste packaging must be treated by a recycling process
  2. by 31 December 2025, at least the following mass of material in waste packaging must be treated by a recycling process:
a) 50% plastics;
b) 25% wood;
c) 70% non-ferrous metals;
d) 50% aluminium;
e) 70% glass; and
f) 75% paper and cardboard

6.  by 31 December 2030, at least 70% by weight of the total waste packaging must be treated in a recycling process
7.  by 31 December 2030, at least the following mass of material in waste packaging must be treated by a recycling process:

a) 55% plastics;
b) 30% wood;
c) 80% non-ferrous metals;
d) 60% aluminium;
e) 75% glass; and
f) 85% paper and cardboard
