Importance of employing people with disabilities

01.09.2021.

Director Siniša Kukić met with MP Ljubica Lukačić when he presented to her the policy of hiring people with disabilities the Fund is actively implementing.

“We believe that by developing the human resources business policy we empower persons with disabilities, and we give them the professional impetus to fully feel as equal and responsible members of the society. Although the primary goal of the Fund is environmental protection and energy efficiency, the Fund also wants to be a socially responsible employer, which is of the utmost importance in these challenging times,” said Director Kukić, adding that the Fund employed around 10 people with disabilities.

There are more than 511,00 people with disabilities living in Croatia and according to the official statistics from May 2019, they account for around 12.4% of the overall population. Accordingly, they should be actively included in all aspects of society as much as possible.

MP Ljubica Lukačić expressed her appreciation of the Fund’s proactive social policy and used the opportunity to meet with the young colleagues who were employed by the Fund. MP Lukačić said that the experience would help them in their professional development and contribute to their competitiveness on the labour market.

Danijel Orlić, the head of the Human Resources Department, pointed out that in the past the Fund participated in the project implemented by one news agency, hiring students with disabilities as trainees.

Further cooperation in promoting corporate social responsibility was agreed in the meeting.
