New tourist wharf in Kopački rit Nature Park

The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund provided HRK 1.3 million for the project of construction of the wharf on Lake Sakadaš in Kopački rit Nature Park.
 

On Friday, the new tourist wharf was opened in Kopački rit Nature park, that will facilitate the fluctuation of the visitors and access to the boats for sightseeing the park.
 
The project of construction of the wharf on Sakadaš Lake in Kopački rit is financed from the European Structural and Investment Funds under the Operational Program “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020”. The total value of the project is HRK 11.1 million, of which 85% is from EU funds, while the rest is national funding.
 
“For the construction of the new tourist wharf the Fund allocated 1.3 million kunas, and it is only one of the projects being co-financed in Kopački rit, such as the renovation of the visitor centre in Tikveš castle,” said Vlatka Gulan Zetić, head of the Department at the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.
 
The director of the Nature Park, Tomislav Bogdanović, said that this project was a follow-up on the investments in the visitor infrastructure, and the construction of the wharf on Sakadaš Lake marked the completion of the most challenging part of the project.
 
This will allow the visitors to go down to the tourist boats more safely, and the boat service has been  improved and facilitated, especially for disabled persons.
He announced that the construction of the new sightseeing electric boat should be finished by the end of September, and the statistical indicators in the last weeks show an upward trend of visits, meaning that slowly but surely we are coming out of the “COVID-19 slowdown".
 
The head of the Directorate for Nature Protection at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development Igor Krajtmajer expressed his appreciation that the renovated Tikveš Castle would be opened by the end of the year as the crowning achievement in this investment cycle from EU funds.
 
The mayor of Osijek-Baranja County, Ivan Anušić, pointed out that last years had seen systematic and planned investments in the development of tourism, quality of offer and tourist infrastructure, all aimed at positioning the County as the leading continental tourist destination.
