Waste Management Centre Zagreb is a system of facilities and machinery for the treatment, recovery, and/or disposal of mixed municipal waste, with the total capacity of around 180,000 t/year and covers the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County (35 local self-government units, of which 10 are towns and 25 municipalities), with the population of around 1,110,000. 

WMC Zagreb is planned in the area of the City of Zagreb, on the location in Resnik, and the project includes the construction of seven transfer stations in towns: Jastrebarsko, Zaprešić, Ivanić Grad, Samobor, Vrbovec, Velika Gorica and Dugo Selo.

The project is in the stage of preparation of study and design-technical documentation to submit the application for EU financing. Eligible costs for the preparation of the required study and design documentation are 30 million kunas, of which 15.5m (85%) was approved for EU financing, and 5% was approved for financing by the Fund, and the rest will be financed by the Beneficiary.

The construction and establishment of the Waste Management Centre Zagreb will contribute to the integrated waste management system in the area of the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County, which will facilitate an organised, economically oriented and comprehensive waste management in said area.
