Companies apply for incentives for the purchase of 2860 electric vehicles

At the regular session of the Motor Vehicle Trade Association held at the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund presented the preliminary results of the Public Call for the purchase of new vehicles on alternative fuels. The public call, for which funds were provided from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, was opened from 5  until 20 October 2025 and only legal persons could apply, except those trades providing passenger transport by vehicle with a driver on request, road carriage of goods, and rental and leasing of cars and motor vehicles.

According to the results presented by Aleksandar Halavanja, head of the Department for systematic energy management at the Fund, most applications were submitted for the co-financing of passenger vehicles or motor vehicles for the transport of passengers with up to 8 seats (78%), followed by applications for motor vehicles for cargo transport with a maximum permissible weight of 3.5 t (12%), and for light two-wheeled motor vehicles - mopeds (8%).

Looking at car makes, the most common requests are for the following car manufacturers: BYD (31.9%), Tesla (10%), Hyundai (5.4%), Škoda (5%), Renault (4.8%), BMW (3.6%), Opel and Volkswagen (3%), Toyota (2.8%), and Peugeot (2.4%).

These are only provisional results of applications and changes can occur if an applicant decides to opt out, or on a different car model or other manufacturer.

It is expected that all received applications will be processed by the end of the year, and if any funds are still available, the public call, worth a total of EUR 21.2 million, will be reopened until the envisaged budget is used up.

In addition, public consultation are currently in progress regarding the call of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition worth EUR 45 million for the co-financing of electric cars for companies/tradesmen registered for the activity of road transport of goods or providing taxi services.
