Consultations at the Fund for stakeholders in MonitorEE project

03.05.2023.

Stakeholders in the new Interreg project MonitorEE - Improving energy efficiency through smarter management systems had the first round of consultations held at the Fund.

Interreg Europe is an interregional cooperation programme co-funded by the European Union, striving to reduce disparities in the levels of development, growth, and quality of life in and across Europe’s regions.

“The aim of MonitorEE is to exchange the knowledge and experience among the project partner countries, meaning the institutions that participate in the development and implementation of local, regional, and national energy efficiency policies. To this end, partner countries Spain, Finland, Romania, France and Poland will make available to Croatia their best practice examples for improving the legislative framework governing energy efficiency, while Croatia will in turn present our best practice examples and results of implemented and completed projects. This will create the environment beneficial for the exchange of solutions regarding regional development,” said the director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Luka Balen.

In the past, the Fund had participated in the Interreg Europe project – FIRESPOL, which was aimed at financial instruments for renewable energy investments, and successfully finished in 2022. The MonitorEE Project started on 1 March 2023, and it will last for four years. The Spanish partner is the project team leader, while the implementing authority for Croatia is the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.

“Through this project, we want to improve the legislative framework – programmes, acts, regulations that govern energy efficiency and the energy performance of buildings, and in particular the strategic document the Long-term Strategy to support the renovation of the national building stock by 2050,” said the MonitorEE project manager Predrag Čuljak from the Fund.

The overall value of the project is EUR 1.4 million, with 80% of grant funding secured from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Of the total amount of EUR 211,000 for the Fund, the grant amounts to EUR 170,000.

Representatives of other institutions attended the first consultations: from the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency, Croatian Chamber of Economy, and HEP ESCO, while other participants in the project include: Agency for Transactions and Mediation in Immovable Properties and the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Other interested institutions are welcome and invited to join.
