An eco-drive for cleaning up the sea called "Ka i uvik gledam more” (I always look at the sea) was carried out today in Vela Luka. Participants in the traditional diving action, which is held after the concert "Trag u beskraju" (A trace in the infinity), were friends and members of the diving club KPA Vodomar Duga Resa, with support from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund. The goal of the drive was to once again send an important message of responsibility towards the sea."Clean sea is not only our greatest natural asset, but also the responsibility of all of us. Croatia can boast of a well-preserved Adriatic, but in order for it to stay that way, each of us must contribute. We don’t want our “trace in the infinity” to be plastic, tyres and other waste. That is why the Fund continuously supports such projects. This year, we have allocated almost one million euros to associations for more than 60 projects, and almost a third is for diving drives to clean-up the undersea. We will continue with financing in the autumn and invite all associations dealing with environmental clean-ups and education of citizens to follow our website. We can preserve the sea only with joint forces so that it remains healthy and full of life, for us and for the generations to come," said Anamarija Brstilo from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.
The mayor of the Municipality of Vela Luka, Katarina Gugić, thanked all participants and pointed out that the eco-drive had a special meaning as part of the event dedicated to Oliver. "I would like to thank all the participants who, through their efforts and dedication, contributed to the successful undersea cleanup action in Vela Luka. Initiatives like this remind us how important it is to preserve our sea and natural heritage for future generations. I am especially pleased that the “Trace in the Infinity” event apart from the environmental component, promotes the values that Oliver embodied and loved: respect for the sea, nature and the community."
Valuable assistance was also provided by the employees of the Vela Luka utility service, who participated in the organisation and logistics support of the drive.
