Energy renovation of preschools in Buje completed

03.05.2021.

The conference and the children’s performance officially marked the completion of energy  renovation of preschool “Buje” and Italian preschool “Mrvica”.

“This project worth in total 7 million kunas and is the most valuable one for which Buje successfully secured EU financing, and it is an excellent example of how old buildings can be smartened up. After the renovation, the kindergarten building moved from energy class E to a high A+, bringing more than 50% energy savings,” said Director of the Fund Siniša Kukić, who with his colleagues attended the formal event to mark the completion of the renovation.

As part of the energy renovation measures, thermal insulation of the roof and exterior walls was improved, windows were replaced, the heat pup was installed, and photovoltaic panels for generating electricity.
“I’m so proud that we managed to renovate a 40-year-old building. Now it’s as good as new, and it will be used by children for decades to come. Through the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund we got a 1.6 million kunas EU grant, and HRK 2.6 million from the Ministry of Regional Development. This is a significant financial boost that helped us see the project to the end,” said the mayor of Buje, Fabrizio Vižintin.

The principals of the renovated preschools Loris Primožić and Francesca Deklić could not suppress their pleasure. ”We are proud now that children will have the best possible conditions during their stay, and the building now fulfils the highest standards,” said both principals, and thanked everyone who contributed to the implementation of this important project.

To end the conference, the children put on a performance signing the songs from the Buje area.
