Participating in the Traffic Safety Conference organised by Jutarnji list, Aleksandar Halvanja from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund announced that the programme of co-financing the purchase of energy-efficient vehicles for legal entities and tradesmen would continue.Last year, the Fund announced the most financially generous public call so far for the promotion of e-mobility, worth EUR 21.2 million, with more than 2800 applications for co-financing e- vehicles submitted. The intense interest once again confirmed the business sector was willing to invest in sustainable mobility and green transition.
All received applications have been processed, so the applicants who were granted funds can start with the vehicle purchase process. Those who did not meet the formal requirements of the call in the first round have a new opportunity to rectify deficiencies and resubmit their application. The Fund will reopen the application process starting next week, with 3.2 million euros remaining for co-financing. Companies and trades that in the meantime decided to purchase a new electric vehicle will also have the opportunity to apply.
"Last week, we held a meeting with representatives of the Motor Vehicle Trade Association of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts, the Croatian Employers' Association and the Association Strujni krug, where we announced that this scheme would continue. We also informed them about the most frequent errors and deficiencies in the application forms, so as to make it easier for applicants to prepare the documentation and improve the success of their applications, said Halavanja.
Among the most common reasons for rejecting applications are irregularities related to the Notifications on the classification of a business entity according to the Decision on the National Classification of Activities (NKD 2025) and errors or omissions in the submitted Applicant Statements.
Halvanja explained that the NKD classification is particularly important in the context of the currently open call of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, which co-finances with 45 million euros only companies and trades registered for road transport of goods or taxi services. Since a special programme has been opened for these activities, they are not eligible for co-financing under the Fund's call.
The Fund invites applicants to regularly monitor the status of their applications in the eFZOEU system. In case of rejection of the application, they can contact the call centre to obtain detailed information on the reasons for not being eligible and, if possible, correct the deficiencies before reapplying.
As before, for L-category vehicles (mopeds, motorcycles and quadricycles) a grant of up to 2,500 euros per vehicle is possible. For passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (categories M1 and N1), up to EUR 9,000 is available, or up to 40% of the value of the vehicle, where the price of vehicles in categories L1-L7 and M1 may not exceed EUR 50,000 excluding VAT. Vehicles falling in categories M2, M3, N2 and N3 are co-financed with up to 40% of the value, i.e. a maximum of EUR 90,000 per vehicle. In addition to electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles, including trucks and buses, are also eligible. One applicant can submit an application for one or more vehicles, with a maximum total amount of co-financing of 90,000 euros.
Applications will be submitted as of 24 February exclusively electronically via the eFZOEU system, using the NIAS system credential. On behalf of a company or trade, an application may also be submitted by a proxy, with a power of attorney certified by a notary public.
Since this is the reopening of the call, the time limit for finalising the purchase of vehicles for all beneficiaries will be extended to the end of July, in accordance with the rules of co-financing under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Halvanja announced that the Fund would continue with the co-financing scheme for citizens during the year. Grants will be available for the purchase of electric vehicles and home charging points. The call worth EUR 20 million is planned for Q3, while detailed terms and conditions of co-financing are still in preparation, and the dialogue with relevant stakeholders and the interested public will continue.
Investments in energy-efficient vehicles represent not only financial support for entrepreneurs and citizens, but also a strategic contribution to the development of a sustainable economy. Through continuous co-financing programmes, the Fund plays an important role in the implementation of national climate and energy goals and is one of the drivers of the development of sustainable mobility in Croatia.
